A state-certified speech therapist works with people of all ages on language, speech, voice, swallowing, and hearing. As a speech therapist, you help your patients reduce or overcome their complaints and limitations.

In your training, you will learn to diagnose speech, voice, swallowing, hearing, and language disorders and improve the articulation of your patients through speech therapy.

The speech therapy training in Hannover also teaches you knowledge of phoniatrics (voice therapy) and paedaudiology (science of hearing disorders).

The training lasts three years and requires a secondary school diploma and a passed aptitude test. In addition to the training, you can also obtain a technical college entrance qualification by attending additional classes.

The training is free of charge. There are one-time registration and graduation fees, as well as costs for learning materials.

As a state-certified speech therapist, you have various job opportunities.

You can work in the following institutions, among others:


  • Speech therapy practices (employed or selfemployed)
