Description:

The research group "Sustainable Building Energy Technology" explores concepts and components for sustainable heating and cooling supply for buildings.

The research group is located at the Chair of Solar Energy Systems of Prof. Hans-Martin Henning and is a joint research group of Fraunhofer ISE and the Institute for Sustainable Technical Systems (INATECH).

This complements the applied, industry-oriented research expertise and infrastructure at Fraunhofer ISE with the university and fundamental research profile of the University of Freiburg.

In a publicly funded research project, INATECH will investigate how changes in power electronics affect the achievable efficiency and controllability of heat pumps.

Together with partners from industry and research, suitable component and device models will be developed, validated with experimental data, and the impact of optimized power electronics in the system context (building) will be analyzed and evaluated.

In this context, we are looking for a doctoral candidate to support our research group as soon as possible.

Responsibilities:

  • Determination of the appropriate level of detail for heat pump models to make changes at the component
