    Description

    The Assistant & Extended Day teacher's role is to work with children who are in their care. The Assistant & Extended Day teacher is directly accountable to the classroom teachers and works closely with them to provide a warm, caring and safe environment for the children. Work is performed under the supervision of the school director or designee. Multiple positions may be available .

    Pay: $14-$16

    Hours: Part-time, or full-time

    Duties Include:

    • Support the classroom teaching team
    • Assisting with classroom organization and cleanup
    • Ability to work well with a team or supervise students alone
    • Confidently guide individual students or the entire class
    • Communicating with parents and other staff members
    • Driving school vehicles on fieldtrips

    School:

    Montessori Community School of Salt Lake City is a private school that has been operating since 1985. The school has a current enrollment of approximately 220 students in the academic session and about half the enrollment in the summer. It is located near Foothill and 1700 South and school hours are 7:30 am - 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The mission of the school is: To provide an authentic Montessori experience that nurtures the natural unfolding of the whole individual, instills a love of learning, encourages acts of peace, and empowers all. The school enrolls students from 3 months to 13 years old in Infant, Toddler, Early Childhood and Elementary classrooms. Please see our website for additional information:

    Requirements
    • The Assistant & Extended Day teacher should be able to meet the physical requirements of the job eg. squatting, sitting or kneeling on the floor when necessary for assisting students, giving lessons, or maintaining the environment; providing supervision during recess in all weather; can keep up with students.
    • The Assistant & Extended Day teacher should be able to lift a child of up to 55 pounds.
    • Experience working with children.
    • Enthusiasm and desire to work with young children.
    • Background check through Child Care Licensing.
    • Proof of vaccination against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Reasonable accommodations will be considered on a case-by-case basis for exemptions to this requirement in accordance with applicable law.
