The You Rock Awards 2018

Rocks come in all shapes and sizes and are everywhere. But some stand out from the rest. Although I don't consider the people in my network rocks, I do have many outstanding people that stand out from others.

If you are not familiar with these outstanding folks - you should be!

Here are my solid as a rock award winners for 2018.

Anne Thornley-Brown

Anne is a truly genuine person who loves to help people. Her passion for helping is demonstrated in everything she participates in or contributes to or creates. From moderating LinkedIn Groups and activities to her business in corporate team building and executive retreat programs, she rocks. Anne is on beBee, too!

Todd Sloan

Todd is the Senior Vice President of Innovation & Business Development at Agility Fuel Solutions. He is driven by his passion for creating a cleaner environment for the world. And in fact, this is integrated into our company vision and mission statements: "Clean air everywhere through sustainable transportation solutions." Todd also introduced me to Jocko Willink's TEDx talk on "Extreme Ownership," a concept I am adopting. It's improving my life.

Jocko Willink

Jocko is a retired US Navy SEAL commander. As mentioned above, his concept called Extreme Ownership can be a powerful and effective philosophy to improve leadership, decision-making and -- life. His books, Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALs Lead and Win and The Dichotomy of Leadership: Balancing the Challenges of Extreme Ownership to Lead and Win should be required reading for everyone interested in self-improvement. Jocko also wrote a series of middle-school books that teach the value of physical fitness, discipline and mental sharpness.

Leif Babin

Leif is the co-author of Extreme Ownership and The Dichotomy of Leadership. Leif's battlefield stories and how they apply to business situations are great examples of strategically thinking through situations to enhance the chances of success.

Andy Foote

Andy rocks for sharing his LinkedIn research, knowledge and techniques to LinkedIn users. He often shares his discoveries and summarizes what they mean to LinkedIn members, and even better, includes advice on how to use (or not use) features and functions. Visit Andy Foote on LinkedIn.

Jeff Young

Jeff takes networking to another level, making it a point to really get to know the people in his network, even if via "remote control." Known for getting paid with the "Three Cs: Coffee, Conversation and Chocolate," he has also managed to effectively brand himself on social media as "The LinkedIn Guru." About Wayne Yoshida

Wayne Yoshida is a technical writer and education advocate with sales management experience. Wayne currently works in the alternative fuel vehicle (AFV) industry and has worked for a wide variety of high technology companies, including aerospace and defense, photonics, lasers and opto-mechanics, two-way radio, telecommunications and a non-profit, educational organization. His personal passion for electronics and Amateur Radio opened many doors to some very interesting personal and professional experiences.
