Life Gets in the Way
"In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps." Proverbs 16:9.
As a travel blogger, it is important to travel. This is basic. We have made wonderful plans for this year and have been excited to explore new places and revisit others. Both a trans-Atlantic and a Southern Caribbean cruise have been booked for months. I have written about how we manage to work and travel quite a lot. There is so much to see and explore.
It is not to be, though; at least for now. Both my wife and mother have had recent, medical problems. Past- times and diversions become less important. My wife is my best friend and my travel companion. We have had to cancel all of our travel plans for at least the next 6 months. So, there will be no Europe, Canada, or Caribbean this year.
I am not whining. My mother is well. My wife will hopefully see improvement. I am quite thankful for both of them and for the places that I have gotten to visit. I do hope and pray that my wife regains strength and that this is just a temporary pause. If exploring the world is not a part of our future, then it is well.
Still, having wanderlust, I grow restless. For the foreseeable future, local and regional day trips will have to suffice. The Bluegrass and Hoosier states are at our doorstep. Hopefully, there will be plenty of places to keep my... and your attention.
This is the week of the Kentucky Derby, the grandest week here in Louisville, Kentucky. While I am not personally a horse racing fan, the spectacle is quite entertaining. I will be sharing local flavor with Kentucky related links. Other upcoming topics include Cumberland Falls, Pinnacles of Berea, and Huber's Orchard and Winery.
Thanks for your time. If my future as a travel blogger is limited to "Kentuckiana" (as the region is called here), or if I have to quit completely, then I am okay with it. For now though, let's see what sites, scenery, and history I can find this year, here in mid-America.
