How To Stay Emotionally Resilient During Hard Times

Most of us don’t realize how lucky we are. From today, we take all kinds of things for granted. When trouble strikes though, we may be challenged in many ways.

In difficult times our true nature is often revealed to us and our emotional resiliency is tested. Here are some ways to fortify your emotional resilience during a time of crisis.

Say No To Worry

What times are tough, it is all too easy to live in a state of constant worry. Worry about the future. Worry about what might happen.

Yes, it is important to be concerned about the future and to be realistic about it, but worry is a totally different monster. Worry is when we dwell over things that we don’t have any power over.

One great way of dealing with worry is the old “Willis H. Carrier Method”, described by Dale Carnegie in his book, “ How to Stop Worrying and Start Living ”. It consists of the following:

-Think about what worst case scenario could be

-Prepare to mentally accept it

-Calmly move to improve on the worst

This method has saved many from worry. I can do you a lot of good too.

Count Your Blessings

One of the best ways to fortify your emotional resilience during difficult times is to remind yourself of how lucky you truly are.

Get a piece of paper out and make a list of all of the things you are grateful for in your life. Then ask yourself, “would I trade these things for a million dollars?”

Chances are, you would never trade things such as your health, your family, and your friends for any amount of money. Doing this will help you realize how rich you really are.

Realize This Will Pass

Whether good or bad, nothing lasts forever. If you’re dealing with a difficult situation, just rest assured that it will come to an end at some point.

This may not be completely comforting at first, but when you truly realize that there is light at the end of the tunnel, then you will experience a sort of relief and be able to let go.

Follow these tips and you will likely notice a great bolstering of your emotional resiliency!
