Confusing the goal with a rung in the ladder

Wow, how easy is it to get so focused on how to move forward that we forget that it is but a rung and not the goal. Each rung of the ladder is essential to the end goal but the ability to be creative in our rungs can be forgotten if we also forget they are but rungs and not the goal.

If the goal is to reach the city with our message is it vastly important if we use post cards before or after using the radio? (No you do not want to plan your strategy around this post.) If we maintain our goal as our primary purpose it permits us to be creative in how we reach it. It also enables us to keep our mistakes in perspective.

Our goals should be as large as we desire and each rung as imaginative as we can make them. The imagination of each rung is designed to promote creativity and progress and as such will be prone to error. This error is not a huge problem because in each error is potential for growth and an opportunity to understand the path more accurately and even perhaps guide us to more accurately define the final destination.

True failure is forgetting that a rung is only a rung and not the goal. As we keep our goal the destination our imagination is free to be used as a tool to help us achieve it.
