Are you listening?
Anger is often a cry for help.
On Friday, a guy was triggered by one of my tweets and lashed out at me in anger. Something told me there was more to the story. So I leaned in and engaged him in conversation.
Sure enough, he was suicidal. He lost his job and later his house due to extreme mental illness which became unmanageable during Covid.
We’ve been talking all weekend. I shared some of my own dark moments and struggles with anxiety.
For this guy, he just needed someone to talk to. His anger was a cry for help. I’m glad I listened and didn’t dismiss him as just another troll on Twitter.
We are now friends.
