    POSITION: Senior Legal Counsel

    DEPARTMENT: Human Resources

    REPORTS TO: Chief Human Resources Officer

    SALARY: $110,820 - $135,446

    Overview: The Bureau of Human Resources is looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to provide legal advice and counsel on employment matters within the department. This role involves collaborating with legal entities to evaluate litigation, respond to document requests, and handle legislative opinions. Additionally, the Senior Legal Counsel will directly support the bureau chief or director.

    ROLE SUMMARY: The Senior Legal Counsel serves as a legal advisor on statutory matters, powers execution, and legal interpretation within the department. They work closely with the President's Counsel and State's Attorneys Office to handle legal affairs, including litigation evaluations and compliance with legislation.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Comprehensive knowledge of local government law in Illinois, especially within Cook County.
    • Expertise in legal research, interpretation, and analysis of laws and regulations.
    • Experience in transactional law.
    • Ability to collaborate with legal entities effectively.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited School of Law, with at least seven (7) years of professional legal experience and a valid license to practice law in Illinois.

    EMPLOYMENT TERMS
