As a Human Resources Assistant, you will process and document HR actions for a wide variety of agencies/bureaus and employee categories that involve different forms, different authorities and regulatory bases, different action codes, and different pay systems.

Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-08. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
Conditions of Employment
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your rsum.
You must be able to type at a speed of at least 40 words per minute.
For the GS-07, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: performing a wide variety of assignments using a computerized system, including research and analysis of problems or issues, and determine appropriate action to resolve.
Examples of such experience could include:
-Researching, analyzing, and resolving differences between various personnel databases; OR
-Requesting employment history information from previous employers and/or the National Personnel Records Center: OR
-Validating and entering information from payroll documents into an automated Human Resources System; OR
-Responding to employee questions related to personnel actions, researching and resolving issues.
For the GS-06, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as providing a range of clerical or administrative support duties that include using a computerized system to edit and retrieve information.
Examples of such experience could include:
-Applying a standardized body of rules and procedures sufficient to perform a wide range of administrative support duties; OR
-Providing assistance to customers regarding procedures involved in a variety of multi-step processes; OR
-Utilizing computer systems and tools to prepare and update documents and reports; OR
-Reviewing files or documents for completeness and compliance with established guidelines.
For the GS-05: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. The experience may have been gained in either the public or private sector. Specialized experience for this position includes performing in a technical, clerical, or administrative support role for a business or organization.
Examples of such experience could include:
- Utilizing computer systems and tools to prepare and update documents and reports, OR
- Greeting clients and responding to inquiries in person, via email, or on the telephone, OR
- Reviewing files or documents for completeness and compliance with established guidelines. OR
You may substitute education for experience as follows: Four (4) years of education above the high school level. OR
You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-07, you must have been at the GS-06 level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-06, you must have been at the GS-05 level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-05, you may be advanced to the GS-05 position if you have held a position no lower than GS-03 in the preceding year under your latest non-temporary competitive appointment OR have held a position at GS-05 or higher under a non-temporary appointment at any time in the past.

REINSTATEMENT: If you are a former federal employee and wish to be non-competitively reinstated for a higher grade or full performance level than which you left federal employment, you MUST provide a copy of your separation SF50 (the "position occupied" block on the SF-50 should show a "1" and your "tenure" block should show a "1" or "2") AND the last performance appraisal you received from your federal employment which shows at least a fully successful rating.
EDUCATION DOCUMENTATION:
