Responsibilities

Peraton is in search of an enthusiastic Principal Software Architect to join our Washington, DC team, providing IT support for critical technical operations managing classified networks for government leaders. The ideal candidate should have recent hands-on technical experience rather than managerial experience.. be familiar with various architectural concepts for implementation, and possess practical technical knowledge. Our distinctive program provides essential technical support for our customer and nodes globally.

The team offers Personnel Management, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering (SharePoint Development, Project Management, Systems Integration support), and Facility Management solutions (Voice/Video Network Integration, Engineering).

The Principal Software Architect's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Define and oversee software architecture to align with business goals and scalability requirements.
Choose and apply suitable technologies, frameworks, and tools for projects.
Develop architectural solutions meeting technical and business needs.
Lead the design and development of complex software systems.
Translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications and solutions.
Establish and enforce software architecture standards and best practices.
Mentor and guide software engineers, enhancing coding skills, ensuring code quality, and offering technical leadership.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and engineers, to align technical solutions with business aims.
Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends.
Identify and mitigate technical risks linked to software development projects.
Clearly document software designs and architecture decisions.
Engage in code reviews to ensure code quality and maintainability.
This role requires 100% on-site support M-F
All contractor personnel supporting this program are considered mission essential, emergency mission essential and weather emergency essential

Qualifications

An active/current TS with SCI eligibility is needed
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field with eight (8+) years of relevant experience; Master's degree with six (6+) years of relevant experience; PhD with three (3+) years of relevant experience; Additional experience can substitute for a degree.
Active/current Security+ Certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
At least seven (7+) years of experience as a software architect or senior software engineer.
Proven expertise in designing, developing, and deploying large-scale software systems.
Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., C#, .NET, JAVA)
In-depth knowledge of software design principles and best practices.
Skill in DevOps and agile software development.
Familiarity with DevOps tools (e.g., GitHub, GitLab, Kubernetes, JIRA, Bitbucket).
Experience with cloud computing technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Capability to work independently and take charge of projects

Desired Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field with 12+ years of relevant experience; Master's degree with 10+ years of relevant experience; PhD with seven (7+) years of relevant experience

The provided estimate represents the typical salary range for this position, one element of Peraton's overall employee compensation package.
