    Description

    Job Description

    Scope of Work

    • The financial analyst contractor will collaborate with AUSAs and staff from the San Jose branch office, along with other NDCA Criminal AUSAs and staff, to support investigations and financial analysis related to health care fraud during the pandemic. The analyst will analyze extensive data from various sources to provide crucial support for criminal investigations and litigation. This includes organizing evidence, preparing exhibits, and enhancing the office's capacity to evaluate leads efficiently from multiple sources.

    TASKS/SERVICES:

    • Conduct data analytics to detect fraud, waste, or abuse in claims data.
    • Analyze financial and management operations of businesses, organizations, and entities, and review relevant documents and records.
    • Gather and examine financial documents from various sources, interview witnesses and suspects, and present findings accordingly.
    • Utilize knowledge of health care coding conventions, fraud schemes, and reimbursement methodologies to identify suspicious patterns in data.
    • Maintain awareness of healthcare reimbursement policies and regulations related to fraud and abuse.
    • Collaborate with legal support specialists to compile evidence and create materials for court proceedings.
    • Prepare reports on investigation progress, findings, and recommendations for further actions.
    • Ensure security and confidentiality of all materials and provide office support functions.

    Degree/Certifications:

    • Undergraduate degree in accounting, business, economics, finance, or related field. Accredited Healthcare Fraud Investigator (AHFI) certification or similar is preferred. Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification is a plus.

    Experience: Preferably 3 years of experience in Healthcare Fraud Analysis.

    Knowledge and Skills Required:

    • Ability to assess products and procedures for compliance, knowledge of financial analysis, debt collection techniques, and budget administration.
    • Understanding of financial management requirements and proficiency in utilizing computer systems and databases.
