Description
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Grants Manager is responsible for research, writing, cultivation, and reporting for foundation, corporation and state agency grants.
The Grants Manager will work closely with program leaders to discover and inquire about funding needs and then articulate the need and impact in a compelling and sophisticated manner, ensuring integrity in all writing and budget composition.
The Grants Manager becomes well-informed by program and fiscal leaders about non-reimbursable expenses and new strategic goals and then uses that knowledge to become an expert in the grant strategy.
The Grants Manager reports to the Vice President of Agency Advancement and works alongside a team of development professionals.The position requires some evening and weekend work about ten times annually to assist, support, and collaborate with the rest of the development team and their goals.
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the duties and responsibilities that will be required of the position, but additional responsibilities may be required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Develop and maintain thorough familiarity of IHC's mission, vision, values, and daily operations to effectively develop, integrate and align current a prospective grant-writing strategy
Generate revenue through timely submission of well-researched, well-written, and well-documented grant/funding proposals according to the funder's requirements
Exercise strong attention to detail when preparing grant submissions and letters of inquiry
Manage comprehensive grant calendar and deliverables
Assist with identifying and soliciting government funding
Prepare, coordinate, assemble, and/or deliver private funding proposals, government grant applications and renewals for submission
Conduct research as needed to support proposal development and other projects as assigned
Research, track, and abide by all grant submission and reporting deadlines
Arrange for onsite tours for supporters (foundation officers, foundation trustees, corporate contacts)
Maintain current records in database and in paper files, including grant tracking and reporting
Prepare and submit grant acknowledgement thank you letters
Interview program leaders and articulate agency impact and outcomes
Identify public and private funding opportunities, monitoring various online and print publications and websites for source information, at the local and state level.
Review and interpret funding solicitations and announcements from public and private funding sources and remain current on funding trends and themesMeet annual goals for revenue and number of applications submitted
Provide technical assistance to staff on interpreting guidelines and regulations related to the submission and administration of grant projects
Form grant development teams for larger more complex grant proposals and work collaboratively with teams to move concept to a final proposal ready for submission
Coordinate proposal development/submission activity with internal stakeholders (Administration, Facilities, Finance, and Human Resources)
Serve as primary liaison to funding agencies and external face of all grant activity
Facilitate initial post-award meetings with new grant directors to transition grants from the development/award phase to the implementation phase
Cultivate, solicit, and steward foundations through meetings, calls, emails, and thank you's
Work closely with the CEO and Chief Strategy and People Officer on state agency grants
Collaborate and support the efforts of other Development Team members and their initiatives
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree required (with coursework in communications, composition, or similar preferred)
Maintain confidentiality in all matters related to the Agency's business, development, and fundraising practices
Five years of relative work experience, preferably in nonprofit organizations
Proficiency with fundraising databases preferred but training can be provided
Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office required
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
Superior oral and written communications skills
Strength in managing multiple tasks and deadlines and project management
Follow up and follow through on tasks independently with ability to prioritize
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
Must be receptive and responsive to supervision and professional development, demonstrated ability to accept and give critical feedback
Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs. (event supplies)
A strong and positive representative of the agency in the community
Maintain strictest confidentiality regarding clients, and employees; adhere to all HIPPA guidelines and regulations
