    • Union Avenue Campus Job Summary This is a full time, fiscal year permanent position reporting to the Director of Grants Development and Management.
    The Grant Development Specialist's primary job responsibility is preparing and writing grants for submission, utilizing electronic media to conduct research in support of grant proposals, and overseeing grant compliance.

    This position will assist the Director of Grants Development and Management in developing internal and external collaboratives for support of college programs.

    The Grant Development Specialist is also responsible for analyzing college and community grants to help identify opportunities for external funding related to the college's mission and goals.

    The Grant Development Specialist will work with faculty and staff to complete submissions.

    This position will assist with prospect research and proposal preparation in support of all fundraising campaigns and other fundraising projects as duly assigned by the Director of Grants Development and Management.

    The Grant Development Specialist will work on other funding projects as assigned by the Director of Grants Management and Development.

    Job Duties Responsible for assisting the Institutional Advancement Office with increasing funding for Southwest Tennessee Community College. Write grants for the College and the Southwest Foundation. Keep abreast of changing grant standards and proposal guidelines. Oversee compliance for existing and future grants. Conduct foundation and corporate research. Develop and maintain communication with fund-raising sources. Identify private, corporate, and government grant opportunities. Prepare grant applications for new and existing programs. Write letters of inquiries and proposals to prospective funding entities. Track proposals and report deadlines and coordinate their timely execution. Work closely with the Institutional Advancement Office and other College employees. * Encourage faculty and administrators to develop grant proposals.

    Assists in the preparation and analysis of regularly scheduled and special requested reports regarding externally funded grant and research activities Serve as a resource for employees who are writing grant applications for various departments.

    Assist individual grant writers with proposal development. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Required grant and/or writing experience with proven research capabilities. Candidate must have very strong writing, analytical, organizational and research skills. Experience editing and proofreading with the ability to produce high-quality materials while adhering to multiple deadlines. Copies of past grant submissions and other written projects required if called for an interview. Monitors multiple web sites to identify appropriate grant opportunities. A background check will be required for the successful candidate. Preferred Qualifications Additional experience requested with private foundation grant submissions. Federal appropriation experience and project administration experience desired but not required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of effective writing procedures and ability to research sources of grant funds. Ability to prioritize, organize, categorize projects and flexibility to modify processes as needed. Ability to maintain hard copy and electronic files on grant submissions. Ability to prepare and analyze budgets and financial reports. Ability to identify relevant data, collect data, and analyze data for use in proposal preparation and decision-making.

    Ability to maintain positive public relations with campus and community populations while leading groups to consensus on complex tasks and decisions.

    Ability to work effectively as a team member and team facilitator.
