- Providesnursing leadership for assignedunitandshiftensuring smooth, efficient, and effective operations.
- Supervises and mentors nursing and support staff during assignedshift.
- Determinesstaffing level and assignments based on staff availability, staff abilities, census, patientacuityand work/patient flow.
- Responsible for the processes of assessment, reassessment, establishment of nursing diagnoses, formulation of the written plan of care, implementation of care, and evaluation of care.
- Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge,referraland spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
- Responsible for staff discipline while on duty; monitors staff members (work performance) output, offering solutions to improve performance.
- Coordinatesaccuratecalculation of patient acuity and workload (staffing) data and makes assignments accordingly.
- Responds to complaints about patient care and relatedservices, andmanages through established channels.
- Remains visible in the department to physicians and staff members; sets priorities andinsurescompletion of care for all assigned patients.
- Ensures staff has necessary equipment and supplies to provide safe, quality patient care;allocatesresources to keep continuous flow of patient care.

- Registered Nurse from the Virginia Board of Nursing or compact staterequired
- Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Associationrequired
- Previousone (1) year of experience in acute care hospital settingrequired
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) American Heart Associationrequired,or within six (6) months of hire
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) American Heart Association OR Emergency Nurse Pediatric Certification
