- Provide sophisticated and independent instruction to outside defense counsel, claim agents, investigators, and experts.
- Evaluate liability and damages to determine proper reserves, develop defense strategy and negotiate settlements.
- Attend mediations, arbitrations, settlement conferences, small claim hearings, depositions, inspections, legal engineering conferences, trials. Some travel required.
- Provide recommendations, suggestions, and opinions regarding legal matters. Analyze and draft various legal documents, releases and contracts.
- Handle Non-Marine claims other than PL.
- Conduct or participate in client/claim review meetings.
- Conduct seminars for clients and staff on important claims technical and legal issues.
- Update and revise internal manuals, forms and procedures.
- Maintain proper documentation in file.
- Obtain and record accurate and complete data.
- Assist Manager in training and developing technical staff.
- Mentor staff as assigned.
- Responsible for complying with proper internal controls as necessary to conduct job functions and/or carry out responsibilities and/or administrative activities at Company.
- J.D. or LLB Degree, and admitted to the Bar
- Minimum five years of tort experience
- Product liability defense experience preferred
- Advanced knowledge of U.S. civil procedure and legal system
- Understanding of advanced concepts of technical and engineering matters
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Applications, Word, Excel
- International work experience and foreign languages preferred
- Ability to work as a team member

Job Summary:
Supervise and handle complex product liability (PL) litigation and claims under minimal supervision.
Provide complex liability assessment and recommendations to clients in order to assure a high quality of claim handling and litigation supervision.
Essential Job Functions:
Supervise and handle complex Product Liability litigation and claims by conducting investigation and defense strategy and providing client reports with analysis and advice on further handling.
