    Job Description

    You will work at the cutting edge of research and development, exploring new possibilities for discovery by collaborating with scientific users. You'll then translate these innovative ideas into top-notch solutions that revolutionize the scientific landscape.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Explore emergent technologies and user needs in cloud and edge computing to develop and assess groundbreaking solutions that redefine scientific practices.
    • Engage directly with users to address issues, troubleshoot problems, and witness firsthand how your contributions impact the scientific community on a daily basis.
    • Contribute to the development and operation of the Chameleon experimental platform, involving tasks like integrating cutting-edge technologies like disaggregated hardware and IoT/edge devices, enhancing open source systems like OpenStack, as well as spearheading new feature development, system upgrades, maintenance, and security implementation.
    • Collaborate with national scientific application groups, operate within a prominent supercomputing center, and be part of a prestigious academic institution.
    • Share your insights with the broader community by co-authoring papers as part of a research team that regularly publishes in various academic forums.

    Restrictions:

    • No remote work allowed.
    • Agencies' applications are accepted.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field is a must.
    • Preferably possess an advanced degree in mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related discipline.
    • Minimum of four years of programming experience (development, debugging, maintenance).
    • Proficiency in Unix/Linux is essential.
    • Hands-on experience with IaaS cloud systems like OpenStack or Amazon Web Services and relevant technologies is required.
    • Proficient in Python programming.
    • Keen interest in research endeavors and tackling challenging problems.
    • Proven contributions to open source software.
    • Familiarity with distributed systems, performance analysis, resource/data management systems, virtualization technologies, containers, system administration technologies, and DevOps tools.
    • Experience with front-end technologies, portal development, and Jupyter is a plus.

    • Skilled in identifying commercial or academic solutions, reading scientific literature, and bridging knowledge gaps.
    • Appreciation for humor.
