    Description

    Software Engineer Position - Investment Management Platform

    Location: Chicago (Loop) - Hybrid (3-4 days/week onsite)

    Position Overview

    As a Software Engineer in the field of buy-side financial services, you will play a key role in the Enterprise Technology team, delivering top-notch technology solutions and support to various teams within the organization. This role will primarily concentrate on a central investment management platform, requiring expertise in backend development and data integration strategies.

    Software Engineers are expected to work independently, demonstrating strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and exceptional support to the Enterprise Technology team. This position utilizes a wide range of technical skills and business acumen specific to the investment firm, ensuring consistent and innovative solutions.

    Responsibilities

    • Adhere to development procedures for source control, builds, reviews, deployments, and change control. Collaborate with team members to enhance integration design standards, development processes, and data governance practices.
    • Become a subject matter expert in at least one business and data domain, as well as the associated technologies and vendor platforms.
    • Key skills include troubleshooting, critical thinking, problem-solving, and attention to detail. Effective communication and teamwork with other developers are essential.
    • Develop and upkeep architectural and design documentation, while recognizing and documenting integration patterns.
    • Participate in code and technical design reviews to ensure the delivery of high-quality, consistent code.
    • Act as a mentor for junior Software Engineers, guiding them on design patterns and development best practices.
    • Handle incident triage, root cause analysis, and provide solutions for production incidents or issues related to Enterprise applications and integrations.
    • Be available for weeknight and weekend production support when necessary.

    Requirements

    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in C#/.NET web application development, or strong proficiency in Python.
    • Proficiency in data integration via web services such as Web APIs, SOAP, RESTful APIs, ETL, or ADO.
    • Experience in Cloud development, preferably in Azure environments.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Extensive experience in Enterprise Platform application development.
    • Familiarity with Investment Management/Financial Services technology and domain.
    • Knowledge of Database Management systems like SQL, Azure SQL, PostreSQL, MySQL.
    • Hands-on experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI.
    • Experience with Investment Management/Financial System platforms, particularly Advent Axys, is a plus.
