    Summary Overview

    In this role, you will serve as a Vision Rehabilitation Therapist (VRT) within the Department. As a VRT, your key responsibility will be to offer personalized support, guidance, and training to individuals who are blind or visually impaired. Your role will involve teaching various essential skills tailored to the specific needs of each person. This includes instruction in areas such as communication, Braille, self-care, meal preparation, safety, organization, time management, and more. Additionally, you will provide Low Vision services to assist individuals in maximizing their remaining visual abilities.

    Embracing a person-centered approach, you will work towards building sustainable independence and empowering participants to live autonomously in their homes and communities as they age. Flexibility in scheduling is essential to accommodate the diverse needs of those you will be assisting.

    Requisite Qualifications

    To qualify for Level III, candidates must hold certification as a Vision Rehabilitation Therapist from the Academy of Certification of Vision Rehabilitation & Education Professionals (ACVREP).

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct various training and educational sessions utilizing diverse methodologies and resources such as classroom instruction, on-the-job training, workshops, and more.
    • Prepare and organize materials, equipment, and tools necessary for effective training delivery.
    • Research and recommend suitable delivery methods, materials, and technologies to enhance learning outcomes.
    • Provide constructive feedback to enhance learning and performance.
    • Gather and assess data to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of training programs.
    • Offer guidance on training-related matters and promote the use of available resources.
    • Maintain accurate records and reports related to training activities.
    • Stay updated on industry standards and best practices through continuous education.
    • Utilize information systems and software for data analysis and reporting.
    • Develop and share educational materials via various platforms.
    • Oversee and manage training facilities as needed.
    • Participate in technology assessments and recommendations.

    Qualifications for Training and Education Specialist II

    • One year of experience in delivering training or education courses.
    • Six months' experience in maintaining training records.
    • Six months' experience in designing training materials and activities.
    • Six months' experience in evaluating training effectiveness.

    Requirements for Training and Education Specialist III

    • Two years' experience in delivering training or education courses.
    • One year of experience in maintaining training records.
    • One year of experience in designing training materials and activities.
    • One year of experience in evaluating training effectiveness.

    Eligibility Criteria

    Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. The State of Delaware complies with E-Verify regulations to verify work eligibility.
