The Delaware Department of Justice, Civil Division, Affirmative Litigation Unit (ALU) is seeking a Deputy Attorney General (DAG) to represent the Delaware Division of the Public Advocate. This role, based in New Castle County with occasional travel to Kent County for appearances before the Public Service Commission, plays a crucial part in the legal system.Career Ladder
The career progression for Deputy Attorneys General (DAGs) in Delaware is structured based on experience and skills. Depending on the number of years practiced, the salary ranges for different levels are as follows: - Pay Grade A14 DAG II Salary Range $86,100/min $90,300/max - Pay Grade A16 DAG III Salary Range $95,095/min $99,360/max - Pay Grade A18 DAG IV Salary Range $104,535/min $109,710/max - Pay Grade A20 DAG V Salary Range $115,920/min $120,510/maxEssential Functions
The DAG will have various responsibilities, including: - Advising the Public Advocate on legal and regulatory matters concerning the Commission - Drafting and reviewing orders - Reviewing filings by regulated public utilities and others - Communicating with utilities on regulatory matters - Investigating and litigating rate cases and utility issues - Aiding in drafting proposed legislation - Advising on federal legal and regulatory matters - Reviewing proposed regulations - Assisting the Public Advocate with FOIA - Undertaking other regulated utility-related duties as assigned The DAG will also represent the Victims' Compensation Assistance Program Appeals Board.Job Requirements
The ideal candidate for this role should be self-motivated, capable of independent work, and adept at meeting deadlines. A strong legal background with in-depth knowledge of public utility laws and regulations is essential. Furthermore, Delaware Bar membership, a minimum of 2 years' experience as a practicing attorney, and eligibility for admission to various federal circuit courts of appeal are mandatory.
