    This is a hybrid position consisting of a mix of office time and some remote work based on business needs.


    Special Note:
    This is a grant-funded position.

    Continued employment is contingent upon job performance/evaluation, continued funding of the program and other appropriate County procedures.


    About the Human Services Department:
    Pierce County Human Services is the community and human services arm of the Pierce County government.

    It is the largest contributor to Pierce County's safety net providing services and funding to nearly 170 agencies and governmental jurisdictions.

    The department collaborates with its community partners, including other public and non-profit funders and service providers to understand current and emerging community and human services needs.

    The Developmental Disabilities Division contracts with agencies in the community to provide:

    County-wide information and education,
    Early support services for children with developmental delays from birth to three years, and
    Employment and community inclusion programs for adults 21 and older.

    How to be successful in the role:

    The successful candidate will use a continuous quality improvement approach and prioritize diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in all aspects of program management.

    The ESIT Social Service Program Specialist will help lead the delivery of services in the ESIT program.


    This high-level professional works in planning, development and evaluation of county funded early support services for families of infants and toddlers with delays and disabilities.

    Incumbents are responsible for developing and implementing policy and program plans, budget monitoring, goals, objectives and compliance for Early Intervention Services.

    Incumbents may perform lead duties.

    Develop program plans. Facilitate planning committee meetings and public hearings/forums as appropriate.

    Coordinate citizen groups, service agencies, and other organizations involved in the planning process.
    Promote PCHS DD's diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging values throughout program.
    Be comfortable leading collaborative, creative problem solving with internal and external partners.
    Assist the Social Service Supervisor with overall policy development.

    Be skilled at writing, communicating, and presenting to diverse audiences and prepare special studies, reports, and statistical information necessary for future planning and community policy decisions.

    Provide training and technical assistance to service agencies and community partners with a demonstrated commitment to contributing to inclusive working and learning environments.

    Participate in compliance and quality assurance review process of service agencies.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY:
    Graduation from a four year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in public or business administration or social work, or a related field, AND
    Three years of professional social services work experience which includes work with related programs, contracts, planning, or services required.
    Any combination of education and experience may substitute for the minimum requirements.


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


    Applicants with deep knowledge of or lived experience with Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), ESIT, and/or other related community-based programs supporting families of infants and toddlers are highly desired.

    Successful completion of a Pierce County background investigation is required prior to employment.
    Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's license, or the ability to obtain the license within 30 days of employment, or otherwise meet the travel requirements of the position
