    Position Description

    Assistant Professor WOT | Psychiatrist

    The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Seattle Children's Hospital is seeking candidates for one full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor without tenure by reason of funding in either the clinician-teacher or faculty-scientist pathway.

    Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research/scholarship, and service.

    Job Duties

  • Inpatient work with children and youth with significant developmental problems and/or autism.
  • The applicant will work with the bio-behavioral program on our child psychiatry inpatient unit alongside a multi-disciplinary team consisting of a psychologist, nurses, patient coaches, and behavioral analysts.
  • Involves teaching psychiatry residents, child psychiatry fellows, and advanced practice fellows rotating through the bio-behavioral service.
  • Opportunities are available to take part in clinical research, quality assurance projects, and outpatient services

    As the only academic psychiatry department serving Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho, we are committed to improving access to psychiatric care and consultation throughout the greater Pacific Northwest. Our educational programs include a required medical student clerkship for 260 medical students per year at some 30 sites across the WWAMI region, a nationally competitive psychiatry residency program with more than 90 psychiatry residents in Seattle and in two regional residency tracks in Idaho and Montana, subspecialty fellowships in addiction, child and adolescent, consultation-liaison, perinatal mental health and geriatric psychiatry, a nationally renowned scientist-practitioner psychology internship program, and numerous post-doctoral clinical and research fellowships.

    Salary

    The base salary range for this position will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

    The base salary range for an Assistant Professor position will be $18,750 - $22,750 per month ($225,000 - $273,000 annually).

    Additional compensation associated with this position may include incentive payments through Children's University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan.

  • An M.D. or D.O. or foreign equivalent, current medical licensure, and eligibility for a Washington State medical license.
  • In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
