    Overview

    The City of Charlotte is a major municipality in North Carolina and one of the largest cities in the United States. Known as the Queen City, Charlotte is a hub for commerce, hosting major banks and technology companies, as well as sports teams like the Carolina Panthers and the Charlotte Hornets.

    Summary

    The Labor Crew Chief II role involves assisting with day-to-day operational services under the guidance of supervisors. This position requires working the 3rd shift from 10:00pm to 6:30am, Tuesday through Saturday.

    Major Duties and Responsibilities

    The Labor Crew Chief II leads operational teams, supervises waste collection activities, and maintains high standards of performance and safety practices. Strong communication skills and knowledge of solid waste industry practices are essential for this role.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


    - Knowledge of Microsoft Office software, Emerald & Kronos.


    - Ability to obtain a City Driver's Permit, requiring a Class 'A' or 'B' CDL.


    - Ability to follow complex instructions and work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.


    - Must be capable of outdoor duties in all weather conditions.

    • - Sitting, standing, bending, twisting, reaching, carrying
    • - Driving (75%)
    • - Walking (Up to 5 miles) for extended periods
    • - Climbing (12 feet)
    • - Lifting (100 lbs.)
    • - Ability to operate hand tools and perform manual labor
    • - Operate vehicles regularly, from cars to heavy-duty equipment
    • - Work outdoors under varying conditions

    Preferred Qualification

    - Previous manual labor and supervisory experience.

    Minimum Qualifications

    High School Graduate or Equivalent with five years of relevant work experience.
