    WhatYou'll Do

    The Medical Assistant at Siloam collaborates with the larger clinic teamto provide patient care through intake, onsite diagnostics and treatments,patient education, and occasional home visits. Everything is done in thecontext of whole person care with a team model.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities
    • Mayprovide nursing support directly for one specific clinician or rotate among allthe providers.
    • Asassigned, retrieves messages from the nurse voicemail, sending messages to theappropriate physician and/or their nurse.
    • Performsin-office tasks and procedures as needed: HbA1c, blood glucose, strep screen,U/A, pregnancy test, EKGs, audiometry and spirometry.
    • ProvidesPO, IM and nebulized medications as needed.
    • Providestraining and resource support for volunteer nurses.
    • Performsphlebotomy for in-office laboratory when needed.
    • Collaborateswith other members of the team by making phone calls on behalf of theclinicians to the patient, pharmacy or another physician's office.
    • Mayrelay patient education as directed by clinician.
    • Providespatient follow-up through phone calls and occasional home visits.
    • Deliverscare in the manner that preserves patient autonomy, dignity and rights.
    • Participatesin on-going quality improvement (QI) activities within the roles defined above.
    • Rotatesinto the lab on site and completes the lab checklist during assigned shifts.
    Other Duties
    • Mayprovide health education to community health workers within the CommunityHealth program if designated.
    • Mayperform quality control measures on equipment if assigned.
    • PerformsOSHA requirements for sharps containers, biohazard bags and expiredmedications.
    • Mayperform sterilization of surgical instruments with autoclave protocol.
    • Maycomplete Health Department Reporting for Communicable Diseases.
    Who We AreLooking For

    Education andExperience
    • CurrentNational Medical Assistant Certification required
    • CurrentCPR certification
    • Diplomaor Associates Degree from a Medical Assisting Program
    Qualifications
    • Passionate about Christian ministry to the underserved and infull agreement with Siloam's mission and core values.
    • Willingness to serve persons with limited access to healthcareand who are from different cultures and faith beliefs.
    • Computer literacy and familiarity with MS Office products aswell as electronic medical records preferred.
    • Outpatient experience is preferred.
    • Adherence to OSHA and confidentiality requirements
    • Ability to work well in a team setting.
    • Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred.
    • Bilingual preferred
