    Position: Administrative Assistant at Rush University Medical Center



    Location: Chicago, IL

    Hospital: RUSH University Medical Center

    Department: Eye Center

    Work Type: Full Time (Total FTE between 0.9 and 1.0)

    Shift:
    Shift 1

    Work Schedule: 8 Hr (8:30:00 AM - 5:00:00 PM)


    Summary:
    Performs various clinic activities such as telephone handling, patient and visitor reception, administrative tasks, and Health Information Management responsibilities.

    The individual in this role upholds the Rush Mission, Vision and Values, and complies with Rush policies and procedures, including adherence to all Rush University Medical Group Customer Service and Performance Standards.


    Responsibilities:

    • Carries out office tasks like mail handling, filing, stocking supplies, and managing clinic correspondence.
    • Uses EPIC system for retrieving referrals, orders, and assisting patients with Release of Information requests.
    • Manages medical records following HIM and office procedures.
    • Handles patient calls professionally, takes clear messages, and schedules appointments accurately.
    • Ensures patient communication by preparing and sending letters and other correspondence from EPIC.
    • Collaborates effectively within the medical practice team and resolves issues by identifying the right resources.
    • Performs additional assigned duties as necessary.

    Required Job Qualifications:

    • High school diploma.
    • Basic computer skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal abilities.
    • Respect for patient confidentiality and sensitivity to health information.
    • Proficiency in using EPIC.
    • Capable of remaining composed and professional during stressful situations.
    • Willingness to adapt to changes and demonstrate flexibility.
    • Successful completion of EPIC scheduling test within specified timeframe.
    • Availability to travel to offsite locations as required.

    Preferred Job Qualifications:

    • Previous experience in a medical office setting.
