Rachel Peterson

I have a strong passion for animal welfare and have worked in many different fields: general practice veterinary medicine, agriculture, zoology, and most recently shelter medicine. I have worked in veterinary medicine for five consecutive years total and have been in my current position in management for one year. In May of 2020 I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelors degree in Animal Science. I enjoy working with small companion animals and exotics. I have a strong interest in providing accessible and affordable veterinary care to owners and their pets. Outside of work you can often find me traveling, spending time with my pets, or hiking. 

I spent two years as a veterinary assistant in a general practice animal hospital in Minnesota during my undergraduate career. After moving back to Chicago, Ive spent the last three years working at a cat shelter where I was promoted from Foster Coordinator to Veterinary Programs Manager. I know oversee and manage the foster program as well as the clinic department that provides medical care and housing for over 1,000 cats that enter our adoption program each year.

I received a Bachelors degree in Animal Science from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in 2020. In the fall of 2022 I took ‘The Cat Class’ through the University of Floridas online program. I am currently enrolled in general chemistry II through the University Of New England online.
