    Description
    Healthfirst's Summer 2023 Internship program is a 10-week paid internship beginning on June 5, 2023. Similar to our programs in the past, we will provide an immersive and interactive learning experience that lays a foundation for continued leadership development. Interns will do impactful work, working together with other Interns, Employees, and Business Leaders to solve current business problems and deliver solutions tied to our "Field of the Future" initiatives.

    Position Summary:

    The Medical Economics Intern in Finance will support the Medical Economics - Product Team in performing functions that enable key business processes and practices. The Medical Economics Intern will contribute to a broad set of projects across the department.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Attend internal meetings to learn about the different products within Healthfirst and how each product is performing
    • Conduct analysis using trend drill templates to identify utilization and cost drivers to better explain increasing and decreasing cost trends
    • Analyze data from multiple tables in the data warehouse using SQL, Excel and Tableau
    • Collaborate with other interns and team members to share innovative new ideas

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Degree in Math, Computer Science, Business, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Economics or related programs
    • Knowledge of SQL based applications.
    • Work experience with Microsoft Excel - create pivot tables, formatting, sorting, create spreadsheets with complex formulas such as v-look ups.
    • Current or previous work experience querying large amounts of data.
    • Experience managing projects and documenting procedures.
    • Understanding of Medicaid and Medicare programs.
    • Experience with PowerPoint or Tableau.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Undergraduate students must be a junior or senior at an accredited institution or have graduated within 12 months of the program. Graduate students must be enrolled at an accredited institution or have graduated within 12 months of the program.
    • Knowledge of healthcare data such as diagnosis codes & procedure codes.
    • Will not require sponsorship for employment
    • Eligible to work in the U.S.
    • Must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA from an accredited school

    Hiring Range*:

    • Greater New York City Area (NY, NJ, CT residents): $38,200 - $49,920
    • All Other Locations (within approved locations): $33,300 - $47,840

    As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, licenses and certifications, and any other factors Healthfirst deems pertinent to the hiring decision.
