    How you Will Power our Purpose (Job Summary)

    The Training and Staff DevelopmentDirector (EAC) will oversee the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of training and staff development programs that enhance the professional growth of employees at all levels at Extend-A-Care YMCA. This position will require an innovative leader who takes initiative while staying up to date with childcare standards and training best practices. This position is often one of the first faces new employees see after being hired and will be an integral part of employees feeling welcomed from the start of their Y journey and beyond. They will supervise a Training Coordinator at EAC YMCA and will be responsible for ensuring all training courses are enriching and welcoming for every staff member in attendance.

    This position will also support the enterprises commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) and the core character values of the YMCA. Reporting directly to the Senior Director, Learning and Innovation, you will partner closely with other senior leaders throughout the enterprise to achieve outcomes.

    How You Will Make an Impact (Essential Functions)

    Training Content Innovation and Enhancement (40%)
    • Collaborate with Out of School Time and Early Education leadership to determine training needs and develop strategies to increase staff retention.
    • Attend workshops and meetings to learn new training methods and techniques and use the knowledge to prepare and coordinate future training sessions.
    • Market training opportunities to employees and provide information on benefits to encourage participation.
    • Responsible for the resource management of all training delivery materials (digital files, workbooks, video recorded trainings, audio files, chat saved files from trainings, physical training materials including shirts and badges, etc.)
    • Manage the integration of training materials and certifications into our learning management system (LMS) to ensure efficient delivery, tracking, and reporting of all training and development activities.
    • Ensure all training information is up to date with changes in state licensing minimum standards, health and safety guidelines, and childcare best practices.
    • Continuously ensure all training materials are YMCA brand compliant by collaborating with the marketing department.
    • Gather and evaluate data from employees on previous training to identify weaknesses and areas that need additional training.
    • Create and conduct evaluations to identify gaps in training content and facilitation to ensure staff have the knowledge and skills needed to be successful in their position.
    • Build and maintain relationships with content area experts to support the continued education of employees.
    • Collaborate with Out of School Time and Early Education teams to ensure quality assessments of programs are occurring.
    Training Facilitation (30%)
    • Co-Lead the Out of School Time Licensed Childcare pre-service training for new employees.
    • Lead the Early Education Licensed Childcare pre-service training for new employees.
    • Co-Lead American Red Cross CPR/First Aid classes, offered weekly, as needed.
    • Partner with Training Coordinator to develop and deliver annual trainings
    • Support the continued education of all program employees, including both full and part-time.
    • This includes all-staff, monthly leadership meetings, special sessions, on-site training, and more.
    • Design and implement the Successor Track training program, with career path in mind, for our front-line employees.
    • Partner with the Staffing Coordinators to ensure all staff are being welcomed and on-boarded in a way that reflects the Greater Austin YMCAs core values.
    • Stay flexible and adaptable to changes needed in training schedules due to the needs in the community.
    Administration and Management (20%)
    • Manage Training Coordinator and weekly schedules related to EAC YMCA training needs depending on the season.
    • Inform employees on scheduled training and track attendance and progress, coordinating when employees need to reschedule.
    • Maintain training equipment and facilities ensuring cleanliness, communication, and collaboration with all Y team members and external partners.
    • Create training calendar and schedules in collaboration with Staffing Operations team.
    • Oversee the approval of timesheets for staff members in pre-service training.
    • Recommend the purchase of training materials and equipment with the budget set for training in mind.
    • Assist in the development of standard training procedures for on-boarding new full-time employees.

    • Responsible for hiring, coaching, and managing all direct reports and ensuring alignment with association people practices for all positions within their organizational structure.
    • Responsible for successful Strategic Plan metrics, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to meet strategic goals and objectives.
    • Implement a goal-based leadership approach (OKR methodology) and ensures the development department is actively working towards supporting organizational level objectives and key results. Conducts Cycle Check-ins and the Annual Check-In with direct reports to ensure progress with OKRs, providing ongoing coaching and feedback, and discuss development opportunities.
    Complete other duties as assigned.

    What You Bring to the Community Enterprise

    Education and Experience:
    • Bachelors degree from a four-year college or university is preferred. A focus on education, child development, human relations, or related fields is preferred.
    • Minimum age of 21 years.
    • Experience in developing adult learning preferred.
    • Prior experience working with licensed childcare facilities preferred.
    • Prior experience training in youth development preferred.
