In this critical leadership role, you will have the opportunity to shape and enhance the technological backbone of the Venmo platform, ensuring it remains robust, efficient, and capable of handling the ever-increasing demands of our user base.

Job Description:

Your way to impact:

We're looking for a visionary Director of Engineering with a deep passion for scaling, ensuring system reliability, and performance to lead our Infrastructure team at Venmo.

Your day to day

Provide Strategic Leadership: Drive the overall vision, strategy, and roadmap for Venmo's Infrastructure team, aligning it with the company's mission and long-term goals.

Drive Technical Excellence: Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of scalable and reliable infrastructure systems, including networks, compute, storage, databases, container orchestration frameworks, CI/CD pipeline infrastructure and monitoring tools in a cloud native environment.

Foster Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with product engineering, security, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of infrastructure solutions and to proactively address potential challenges.

Develop talent: Foster a culture of innovation and excellence within the team by providing mentorship, guidance, and career development opportunities for engineers.

Ensure performance and reliability: Champion best practices in system performance, availability, and disaster recovery, ensuring our platform consistently meets high standards of user experience.

Be on top of technology trends: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement in infrastructure architecture and operations.

What do you need to bring-

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
Proven experience (10+ years) in software engineering and infrastructure roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
Strong background in designing, building, and maintaining largescale, highly available infrastructure systems.
Expert in operating cloud technologies (preferably AWS) and Kubernetes at scale.
Expertise in networking, security, and system performance optimization.
Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
A track record of attracting, retaining, and developing top engineering talent.
