    BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION:


    The successful candidate will perform Geographic Information Systems (GIS) support for the Unified Government (UG) Asset Management team within Public Works (PW).

    The position is responsible for the maintenance and development of PW GIS and asset data.

    Duties include interpreting complex construction and survey plans, importing digital submissions to the UG GIS/Lucity environment, managing as-built plan documents and their association to spatial features.


    Researches and resolves moderately complex GIS related problems:

    transforming data from other systems (CAD/MicroStation), manipulating database files, interprets aerial photography, analyzes cadastral and street map information, and designs data collection applications.

    The position works with all Public Works divisions and supports various interdepartmental UG programs/projects. Fulfill map and GIS data requests from internal and external customers. Provides GIS and Lucity support to Public Works staff, trains other PW editors, and maintains editing standards and workflows. Provides tier 1 IT support for Android tablets used in the fields by various departments.

    The position will exercise independent judgment and action in supporting the development, maintenance, and application of the UG's GIS and asset management systems and data.


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Bachelor's Degree in Geography, GIS, Cartography, Computer Science, and three years of programming, systems analysis, or work experience related to area of assignment or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

    Two years of experience and training in the use of GIS software (preferably ESRI ArcGIS Pro) and necessary hardware. Ability to perform spatial and attribute edits to GIS databases. Intermediate to advanced information technology troubleshooting skills.


    Desired software knowledge:

    ESRI Suite; ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, Collector, Lucity or other CMMS, Excel, Notepadd++, basic HTML, SQL, Map document/map services design skills a plus.

    Knowledge of GIS and CMMS use within a utility or government organization is preferred. Experience in field survey data collection is a plus. A creative spatial problem solver. Must possess a valid Kansas Driver's license. Must be a resident of Wyandotte County or willing to relocate within 12 months from date of hire. Must be able to pass a criminal background check.


    Salary Range:
    $25.96-$34.72/hr.
