POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Mid-Level Transducer Design Engineer is responsible for the design development and documentation of piezo-electric transducers and associated accessories.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design new piezo-electric transducers for the aerospace markets.
Design and selection of piezo-ceramic components useful for transducer/sensor design.
Provide mechanical design expertise to support the production of piezo-electric products.
Test and evaluate new designs using common laboratory equipment used for acoustic and vibration products.
Improve mechanical designs of existing transducers to reduce cost and improve the manufacturing process.
Analysis of transducer output sensitivity/noise, resonances, etc., necessary to characterize a transducer.
Perform value analysis during the product design phase while optimizing product development costs.
Coordinate projects and tasks with other mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing engineers to complete assignments and projects on schedule.
Maintain project files and appropriate records of work.
Research and investigate leading edge technologies for creating new products or processes.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Acoustics, Physics or a related field
1-2 years minimum experience in piezo-electric transducer design and manufacture in the defense, medical, oil & gas, or industrial markets
Knowledge of piezo-ceramic types, modes, and properties useful for transducer design
Proficient with mechanical design software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Solid Works
Knowledge of Finite Element Method (FEM) software such as ANSYS is a plus
Knowledge of how to design metal, plastic, and ceramic parts including material selection and fabrication techniques
Knowledge of adhesives for different materials and their uses in transducer production
General knowledge of electronics, soldering, connectors, etc.
Good written and oral communication skills
Good interpersonal skills and an ability to work with every level of the organization
Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance

POSITION GUIDELINES:

Work effectively across all levels as required to perform responsibilities
Develop good interpersonal relationships necessary for effective teamwork
Maintain professional manner/demeanor with all customers, visitors, and employees
Follow a complete and thorough process when developing new product designs
Understand and follow the changing developments in piezo-electric technology and transducer design technology

Pay range: $90,000 - $130,000
