Brief Summary of Job Duties


The Academic Personnel Analyst is responsible for managing academic personnel affairs within the department, overseeing tasks ranging from preparing and critically reviewing academic merit and promotion files to coordinating faculty recruitment processes and administering payroll activities.

This role entails interpreting and implementing policies, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing analytical support to departmental leadership on special projects.

With a focus on confidentiality, efficiency, and adherence to Affirmative Action regulations and University policies, the Analyst plays a pivotal role in supporting the department's goals and objectives by facilitating seamless academic operations and decision-making processes.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • 13 years of experience organizing and managing events, and/or prioritizing multiple work assignments, meeting deadlines, and exercising adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, active listening, critical thinking, multitasking and time management skills.
  • Interpersonal and work leadership skills to provide guidance to nonexempt personnel and students.
  • Discrete management of sensitive and confidential personnel information.
  • Interpersonal and mentoring skills to educate and facilitate interactions with faculty about their own personnel actions and their roles on their colleagues' personnel actions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 13 years general human resources or academic personnel.
  • Thorough knowledge of campus administrative procedures and processes.

Job Functions and Percentages of Time:50% Academic Personnel


As advisor to the Chair and MSO is responsible for the preparation and critical review of academic merit and promotion files, appointment and reappointments, and excellence reviews for Senate faculty, Lecturers, Academic Coordinator, Researchers, Specialist, and Project Scientists.

Determines methods and procedures at the department level to assure confidentiality and to ensure files are effectively presented. Uses independent decision-making and a high degree of independence in coordinating the review process. Responsible for interpreting and informing the Chair and MSO of changes in campus academic personnel policy and procedures.

Maintains a broad and functional understanding of academic personnel policies and procedures to provide oversight and continuity of the academic personnel program for rotating Chairs and Vice Chairs.

Review departmental procedures to ensure compliance with campus regulations and policies regarding academic personnel.
