- Design new piezo-electric transducers for the aerospace markets.
- Design and selection of piezo-ceramic components useful for transducer/sensor design.
- Provide mechanical design expertise to support the production of piezo-electric products.
- Test and evaluate new designs using common laboratory equipment used for acoustic and vibration products.
- Improve mechanical designs of existing transducers to reduce cost and improve the manufacturing process.
- Analysis of transducer output sensitivity/noise, resonances, etc., necessary to characterize a transducer.
- Perform value analysis during the product design phase while optimizing product development costs.
- Coordinate projects and tasks with other mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing engineers to complete assignments and projects on schedule.
- Maintain project files and appropriate records of work.
- Research and investigate leading edge technologies for creating new products or processes.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Acoustics, Physics or a related field
- 1-2 years minimum experience in piezo-electric transducer design and manufacture in the defense, medical, oil & gas, or industrial markets
- Knowledge of piezo-ceramic types, modes, and properties useful for transducer design
- Proficient with mechanical design software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Solid Works
- Knowledge of Finite Element Method (FEM) software such as ANSYS is a plus
- Knowledge of how to design metal, plastic, and ceramic parts including material selection and fabrication techniques
- Knowledge of adhesives for different materials and their uses in transducer production
- General knowledge of electronics, soldering, connectors, etc.
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills and an ability to work with every level of the organization
- Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance
- Work effectively across all levels as required to perform responsibilities
- Develop good interpersonal relationships necessary for effective teamwork
- Maintain professional manner/demeanor with all customers, visitors, and employees
- Follow a complete and thorough process when developing new product designs
- Understand and follow the changing developments in piezo-electric technology and transducer design technology

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Mid-Level Transducer Design Engineer is responsible for the design development and documentation of piezo-electric transducers and associated accessories.
