    Position Summary:


    Chaminade College Preparatory prides itself in its mission and identity as a Catholic school in the Marianist tradition, which prepares students to love, learn and lead through a seven-year educational experience.

    With 1900+ students, the school operates across two campuses with rock solid financials, including revenue of $45MM, reserves/endowment of $32MM, $118MM in assets and no debt.

    The VPFO reports to the President and works collaboratively with the Executive Council members, the Board of Directors and its committees, faculty, staff, students, parents, volunteers, donors and external stakeholders for the furtherance of Chaminade's mission.

    The VPFO manages Finance, IT, Financial Aid, and Facilities, with high performing Directors over each of these operational areas, and a total staff of 33.


    Key Duties and Responsibilities:
    Provide visionary leadership for long-range and short-range strategic planning;
    Guide and manage institutional risk and legal affairs;
    Provide guidance to the Board of Directors, President and employees as to their fiduciary responsibilities;
    Manage and safeguard financial, technological and physical assets and resources,
    Oversee auxiliary services; Promote continual institutional, departmental, and individual evolution and growth.
    Strategic Planning
    Provide leadership for annual and long range operational, capital, and financial planning purposes;
    Provide financial and operational modeling tools for various purposes;
    Provide regularly recurring and special project-related financial and non-financial internal and external data analysis for various areas of operations;
    Ensure completion and obtaining of annual professional association surveys, such as those of Cal-ISBOA and NAIS.
    Assist others within the School community in the research, development and monitoring of programs;
    Provide input on priority setting for funding opportunities that arise;
    Oversee the development and implementation of the annual budget as approved by the Board of Directors; and
    Consult with School leadership, including the Board of Directors on significant organizational and financial issues.
    Financial, Technological, and Physical Assets and Resources
    Student Financial Assistance Program, with Director of Financial Assistance as lead
    Maintain a financial assistance program that meets the strategic and mission-based needs of the School, and complies with school policies and procedures;
    Monitor financial and statistical information about the program and report on such as needed to management and the Board of Directors for monitoring and decision-making purposes; and
    Coordinate activities of the Board of Directors' Ad-Hoc Financial Aid Committee when active.
    Financial Assets and Resources, with Director of Finances as lead
    Monitor generation of resources, including receivable collections, and their use for consistency with strategic initiatives and school mission;
    Generate timely and accurate financial data and reports;
    Safeguard the school's financial resources with a strong internal control environment;
    Maintaining an annual and multi-year budget system to guide and monitor school activities to expectations;

    Manage and monitor the school's compliance with any financial reporting and covenant obligations with outside agencies, financial institutions, and others.

    Seek to secure Chaminade's best interest through favorable relationships with vendors, investment managers and financial institutions;
    Maintain the investment of funds within the parameters approved by the Board of Directors;
    Coordinate activities of the Finance Committee and its Investment Subcommittee; and
    Maintain a department of qualified individuals to fulfill the responsibilities of the Finance Department in a professional manner.
    Technological Assets and Resources, with Director of Technology as lead
    Provide leadership in the development of strategic information technology plans to support and promote the mission of the school and advise the administration in developing short‐term and long‐term technology planning;
    Safeguard, maintain, and advance the school's information technology infrastructure and data in line with industry best practices;
    Coordinate major infrastructure upgrades and replacement projects for institution-wide hardware (including student hardware devices) and institutional core operational software;
    Assist others in the institution with the evaluation of software and specialized departmental hardware as needed;
    Promote continual technological research and advancements, particularly in the areas of cyber security and infrastructure design; and
    Maintain a department of qualified individuals to fulfill the responsibilities of the Information Technology Department in a professional manner.
    Physical Assets and Resources, with Director of Facilities as lead
    Maintain buildings, grounds, and equipment in a safe, clean, and attractive condition, in compliance with all applicable codes and standards;
    Determine and coordinate appropriate level of services to support human and facility safety and security;
    Ensure a system is in place for managing use and set-up of facilities by both internal and external parties in compliance with conditional use permits and other governmental requirements;
    Proactively manage the ongoing maintenance plan of school facilities;
    Maintain and implement short- and long-term facility refurbishment and development plans to support strategic initiatives and mission of the school;
    Facilitate work of the Board of Director's Physical Facilities Committee; and
    Maintain a department of qualified individuals to fulfill the responsibilities of the Physical Facilities Department in a professional manner.

    Minimum Education and Experience:
    Master's Degree/MBA or CPA designation or equivalent preferred

    Ten years of experience running all aspects of an organization's non-educational operations, preferably in a complex enterprise; previous experience in a COO or CFO role highly preferred.

    Seven to ten years of experience with or knowledge of local, state and federal business law and nonprofit accounting, including fund and grant accounting, compliance and reporting

    Skills and Knowledge:
    Passion for Chaminade's mission;
    Strong organizational, research, administrative, analytical, planning, project and time management skills;
    Strong knowledge of local, state and federal law and regulatory requirements applicable to businesses and schools;
    Ability to handle stressful situations in a calm, empathetic, orderly, and constructive manner;
    Effective leadership and management of employees;
    Strong communication skills, both written and oral;
    Ability to maintain confidential information, including information related to finances, students, parent/guardians, employees, donors, alumni, legal matters and similar.
    Exhibits a customer-service and results-oriented mindset and encourages the same of employees.
    Ability to collaboratively engage, influence and forge productive relationships with school leadership, board and committee members, employees, parents, volunteers, donors, community groups and government representatives;
    Reasonably conservative financial management philosophy and practice;
    Ability to assume responsibility and work without direct supervision, exercising initiative and good judgment with consideration of potential risks and rewards when making decisions;
    Commitment to continued professional growth and development in order to maintain and upgrade relevant knowledge, skills, and abilities;
    Ability to travel locally, regionally, and nationally;
    Ability to work weeknights and weekends as needed; and

    Proficient in use of core Microsoft Office 365 programs, including Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint and Outlook, along with Adobe Acrobat and office equipment.

    Salary Range and Benefits
    $200,000 to $300,000, 100% employer paid HMO medical, dental, and vision for employee, 403b plan matching up to 6%.
