Job Description:
Summary:
The person in this position will work on multidisciplinary project teams providing control system engineering and related technical expertise for industrial processing, manufacturing, mining, and fuels facilities.
Tasks will include working with a team to design, configure, and commission industrial control systems for mining, manufacturing, power, and fuels clients.
The design of the control system will include P&ID development, industrial network design, control panel layouts, bill of materials, specifications, and other related deliverables.
Configuration includes the programming of controllers, configuring parameters for integrated equipment such as motor control devices, and simulating code in a lab beforedeployment. Commissioning
consists of supporting clients remotely and on-site to successfully implement the control system. This may include planning, troubleshooting, training client staff, and working with vendors to integrate equipment.
This person will assist internal teams with proposal development including defining work scopes, deliverables, schedules, and budgets.
This person will also be responsible for managing projects, providing technical leadership, and managing teams to meet client needs, as well as coaching and mentoring less-experienced staff.
The work may involve short-term, out-of-town assignments.Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in electrical, computer, mechanical, or chemical engineering
Proficient in Rockwell Automation Studio 5000 programming
Proficient in SCADA and HMI application development
5 years of related experience working in a design capacity on projects directly related to the job responsibilities described above at a consulting engineering, system integrator, equipment manufacturer, or industrial organization
Working knowledge of codes, standards, laws, and regulations applicable to the project assignments described above
Familiarity with AutoCAD
Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with team members in a high-energy working environment that encourages self-initiative
A flexible working style and a willingness to modify personal schedules as required to meet deadlines and/or client needs
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Inductive Automation's Ignition software
Knowledge and experience with industrial manufacturing, mining, power, and/or fuels industries
Experience with Rockwell Automation PlantPAx and FactoryTalk View SE
Demonstrated project organization and management skills
Knowledge and experience related to electrical installations in hazardous areas
Strong client-relationship and business-development skills
Knowledge and experience related to piping and instrumentation diagram
A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position can be based out of Barr's Minneapolis or Duluth, Minnesota, offices.
NOTE:
Applicants must be able to work in locations that feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and to enter and work in facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities.
