DUTIES
Prepare financial statements for wholly-owned subsidiaries and customized reports for internal lines of business.
Responsible for accounting functions related to payroll including preparing journal entries in the accounting system, reconciling payroll GL accounts, generating, and sending recurring and ad-hoc reports from ADP, reviewing timecards for accuracy in coding, maintaining GL Interface in ADP, coordinating with HR to assist in annual 403B and Workers Compensation audits.
Assist the Accounting Manager in field operations ensuring there are documented procedures, controls, and processes in place; maintain field office accounting manual.
Lead in the accounting of GR Subsidiaries' activities and research into new tax and accounting, pronouncements, as applicable.
In coordination with other accountants and the Controller, contribute and facilitate the month-end close and reporting process.
Assist in the preparation of the annual audit, 990 tax filings, and coordination with independent auditors.
Lead the preparation of all internal and external financial statements, budget to actual reports, and financial reports for donors to subsidiaries and various lines of business.
In collaboration with the Controller, work on the development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information to appraise operating results of GR programs, and affiliates/partners.
Ensure the optimal use of technology by becoming an expert in the accounting system.
Perform other duties in GR and subsidiaries that may be needed to ensure smooth and uninterrupted accounting and financial operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Undergraduate degree in Accounting.
CPA required.
Five or more years of experience in finance and accounting with increasingly expanded responsibility. Two or more years of audit experience is preferred but not required.
Experience working in a highly diverse environment and in an organization with varying levels of operating complexities.
Demonstrated ability to lead month-end and annual close involving multiple entities (parent company and subsidiaries)
Experience managing multiple organizations consolidated entities, and locations is a plus.
Demonstrated knowledge of US government grant-making rules and regulations required as well as GAAP required.
Ability to anticipate priorities and organize work to be responsive to the deliverables required of the team.
Highly knowledgeable in internal controls and process flow. Proficient in using general ledger and non-profit accounting systems and software.
Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills that present complex financial information in an accessible way for non-financial people, as illustrated through narratives, PowerPoints, graphs, and spreadsheets; demonstrated ability to communicate options for process improvements that align with the goals of the organization.
Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to make connections and understand how the micro-details feed into to the macro results.
