    Tasks and Responsibilities

    We are seeking a Power Supply Design Engineer to be based at Nissan Technical Centre Europe, Cranfield who will be:

  • Capturing the requirements of European customers and system owners
  • Developing high level specifications for battery related parts
  • Negotiating and coordinating specification development with R&D Centres
  • Designing and maintaining Power Supply Drawing through development and lifecycle
  • Managing Tier 1 suppliers to deliver products to quality, cost & timing targets
  • Managing in-house and supplier validation of components to Nissan standards
  • Working with test, total customer satisfaction and customer orientated engineering teams to resolve concerns
  • Collaborating with Purchase team to support sourcing and cost definition/ reduction tasks
  • Ensuring that parts applied are fit for purpose through design review
  • Carrying out European frontline activities such as launch and market concern resolution
  • Making cost, quality & timing status reports to management
  • Embracing, applying and promoting System Engineering design processes and principles.
  • Collaborating with Nissan R&D centres to implement the use of big data for improving battery quality & design.
  • Focusing on the application and integration of 12V Battery parts and systems to Nissan European vehicle projects - primarily, but not limited to, Lead Acid Battery, Lithium Ion Battery, Alternator & Capacitor parts.
  • Managing of quality, cost and timing of components and the creation / maintenance of Power Supply Drawings. Management of suppliers and the adoption of parts in our European production plants, other R&D centres, in particular NTC. Frontline responsibility for Battery related parts in the region and 'window person' for plant and market.
  • Skills & Experience

    The Power Supply Design Engineer should have the following skills or experience:

  • Be degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Have relevant experience or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and multitask between multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Competent with PC applications including Microsoft excel and Microsoft project.
  • Be self-motivating, self-managing, pro-active and positive. Have an energetic personality and be flexible regarding working practice and working hours.
