The State Forestry Administration of North Rhine-Westphalia, as a unified forestry administration with 15 regional forestry offices responsible for an area of approximately 364,000 hectares of private and municipal forest ownership, and manages around 120,000 hectares of state-owned forest land.

Forest and Wood NRW is also responsible for carrying out sovereign tasks according to the State Forestry and Community Forest Act.

With the Center for Forest and Wood Management (FB V), the state of North Rhine-Westphalia strengthens teaching and research in the fields of forest, wood, and wood industry.

The new organizational unit of the State Forestry Administration NRW combines practical, applied research and knowledge transfer at the Arnsberg location.

It is also one of five departments of Forest and Wood NRW.

The Center for Forest and Wood Management consists of research and knowledge transfer-related areas, with the Forestry Education Center team being one of them.

It is located in Arnsberg-Neheim and its core competence is in the forestry training professions in North Rhine-Westphalia. In addition, it offers seminars on forest work and forestry technology to forestry companies, forest owners, and private individuals. The Forestry Education Program offers a variety of qualification opportunities to external and internal customers. Furthermore, the Forestry Education Center deals with the development and testing of forestry technical procedures.
