Where you will work:


Camp Winacka - A traditional rustic camp with spectacular views. The camp features a pool, miles of hiking trails, green building including a new environmental center and two lakes. Campers choose from programs focusing on aquatics, horses, arts and adventure. Campers and staff sleep in open-air cabins with built-in bunk beds, in platform tents with bunk beds or on cots under the stars.


Your summer will look like this:

  • Using the camps natural environment, develop and deliver farm and garden activities that are safe, fun and appropriate to the campers' age and abilities and reflects the Girl Scout commitment to stewardship of the natural environment.
  • Provides and creates farm and garden resources for campers outside of direct program, including composting, food awareness bulletin board, etc.
  • Ensures daily care of plants and animals involved in farm/garden programming.
  • Collaborates with unit staff to offer food awareness, farm and garden programs for campers.
  • In coordination with Nature & Science Specialist, responsible to set up, inventory and maintain nature, garden and environmental resource materials that are easily accessible and usable by camp staff.
  • Conducts opening and closing inventory of related supplies.
  • Completes endofyear report with summary and recommendations for future program and camp activities.
  • Assists in the general operation of camp as assigned by the camp director or program director.
  • Assists with luggage delivery and camper pick up/drop off on change days.
  • Maintains clear and positive written and verbal communication with all internal and external clients.

Experience and Skills:


Here's what it takes:


  • Be at least 18 years of age; 21 preferred.
  • Demonstrated training and knowledge of gardening, animal care and food education.
  • One year camp experience and/or at least one class or workshop training in farming or gardening.
  • Oneyear environmental work experience preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain current First Aid/CPR/AED certification by the first day of campers' arrival.
  • Attends staff meetings.
  • Attends staff and inservice training during the summer.
  • Attends scheduling meeting, as needed.
  • Ability to interact with all age levels.?
  • Valid drivers' license, proof of insurance and/or access to reliable transportation. Daily and/or occasional travel may be required.??
