The Program Coordinator:
Innovative Projects is responsible for developing, planning, and
implementing NAMI Orange County's Spanish programs. This new program will offer mental health education presentations to employees of private businesses and nonprofits.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS &
DUTIES:
Design mental health education presentations for employees of private businesses and nonprofits on subjects including burnout, self-care, crisis and de-escalation, and reducing mental health stigma.
Lead presentations for groups up to 30+.
Utilize presentation applications including Canva, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word to create educational content and materials.
Research relevant mental health topics using reputable sources.
Contact prospective partners to offer Lunch & Learn presentations to their staff.
Manage requests for Lunch & Learns from interested organizations.
Establish relationships with local private businesses and nonprofits to deliver presentations to their employees.
Aid the development team's efforts to create lasting fundraising partnerships.
Distribute Lunch & Learn information to stakeholders.
Arrange and lead meetings with community partners to determine the needs of each organization including subject matter and presentation requirements.
Draft event checklist and tracking sheet to ensure success of each event.
Prepare status reports for the Executive Committee and Board of Directors.
Complete Milestone Reports and Project Check-ins for NAMI National.
Collect and analyze event attendee
surveys/evaluations.
Utilize attendee feedback to make improvements to the Lunch & Learn program.
Order, pick up, and distribute refreshments to Lunch & Learn participants.
Serve as a role model in carrying out the NAMI Orange County mission.
Direct all activities towards the fulfillment of the NAMI Orange County mission.
Establish and maintain an environment that encourages teamwork, collaboration, and ethical behavior.
Maintain regular, reliable and predictable attendance.
Support other members of the team and their work.
Other Duties:
This job description incorporates the essential functions and duties required for this position.
However, other duties may be required and assigned at times and as determined by a supervisor in order to meet the needs of the organization.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS,AND ABILITIES:
Ability to research, plan, organize, design, and implement this innovative program.
Ability to comfortably utilize a collaborative approach to teaching and learning.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex material.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups of people.
Proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel and Google Suite.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE,
AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Human Services or Behavioral Sciences; may substitute 2 years related direct service experience.
Sales or nonprofit fundraising and development experience preferred.
Experience in education and/or public speaking heavily preferred.
Must possess valid driver's license with a good driving record, plus ability to provide own transportation to complete travel requirements of job.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND EQUIPMENT USAGE:
Position requires little to moderate physical activity.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is in a typical
office/administrative
environment involving minimal exposure to physical risks.
Hybrid in-person/remote. All employees are required to be in-office at least once per week on their assigned day.
This position will require some short travel to present in-person at private businesses and/or nonprofit organizations within Orange County. Avg. 2-3 hours per week
Program Coordinator reports directly to the Program Manager
Must speak Spanish.
