    Position Description

    This is a fully benefited, full-time Harvard University position that has been funded through 6/1/2025. There is the possibility of renewal, contingent on funding, university priorities and satisfactory job performance.

    Financial Administration (FAD) is dedicated to advancing Harvard University's teaching and research mission by stewarding its resources; providing support, guidance, and consultation; ensuring compliance with University and federal guidelines; mitigating risk; pursuing operational excellence; and promoting the financial health of the University.

    Strategic Procurement is a department within Financial Administration (FAD) at Harvard University that assists the University community in obtaining the best quality and value for the goods and services purchased from third party vendor relationships by leveraging vendor spend and relationships across the University in support of identifying and reducing total costs; sourcing and procuring quality goods and services in support of superior service and growth; and establishing business partnerships and contracts with preferred vendors and contract vendors.

    The Senior Contracts Analyst demonstrates the ability to perform the duties related to the comprehensive reviewing, drafting, and negotiating of various buy and sell-side contracts. The analyst may review requests for proposals. This position is the primary resource for product and service business agreements/contracts and is responsible for a variety of agreement types which include but are not limited to the following: Software License Agreements; Professional Services Agreements; Website Design and Hosting Agreements; Digitization Agreements; Equipment Purchase Agreements; and other types of product and service business agreements/contracts. As part of the above review process the incumbent will partner with campus clients and subject matter experts, such the Office of the General Counsel, the Harvard University Information Technology office, and the Risk Management office to ensure compliance with Harvard University policies as well as applicable laws and regulations.

    In addition, the Senior Contracts Analyst may perform various tasks related to contract management support, which will include adding contracts to the current contract management system and assisting with administrative tasks related to contract management. This may include answering general system and contract management questions for clients.

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
    • The incumbent;
      • will demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for achieving solutions beneficial to the University and safeguarding its interests
      • provides contract analyst and management expertise to campus departments and research units for unique product and service agreements/contracts by analyzing, structuring, drafting, negotiating, and preparing agreements for execution related to approved University programs and activities to ensure compliance with Harvard University policies
    • Establishes and improves communication channels with departments and research units to achieve continuity and efficiency in the execution of business agreements/contracts
    • Identifies potential problems and provides alternative solutions in the structuring of the agreement/contract to meet desired objectives and avoid unnecessary costs should a dispute arise during the contractual relationship
    • This position;
      • presents the University's interests to outside parties concerning terms and conditions of product and service business agreements/contracts
      • is responsible for promoting compliance with university policies and procedures and state and/or federal regulations and provides advice to faculty and staff regarding university policies and procedures and other information as it relates to their business contract activities

    Work Format Details

    FAD actively supports hybrid work where business needs allow. This position has been designated as a primarily remote position (1-2 days per year on site). While this position is primarily remote, travel to campus may be necessary based on business needs and the nature of work. Examples include bi-annual or quarterly Town Halls, critical business meetings or other work events. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
