The Aircraft Mechanic I troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, engines, auxiliary power unit and ventilation and heating systems
This mechanic repairs, replaces, and rebuilds structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet guns, and drills
This worker reads and interprets manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components
This mechanic performs 100-hour, progressive, isochronal,phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections, inspects jet engine turbine blades to detect cracks, distortion, corrosion, burn-out, security, or breaks, tests, engine operation, using testing equipment, such as ignition analyzer, compression checker, distributer timer, ammeter, and jet calibration (Jetcal) tester, to locate source of malfunction
Job duties require that this mechanic: adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories, performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes.
Basic Qualifications:
Must be able to troubleshoot and/or repair malfunctions in the aircraft engine, auxiliary power unit, anti-icing and heating systems and all other supporting engine systems, performing all APU and AE2100D3 engine maintenance to specified Air Force C-130 standards to include required engine removal and installation and functional tests
Ability to perform on-aircraft engine runs (if required) Ability to perform all inspections, adjustments, alignments, rigging and calibration of engine torques and related propeller components to achieve maximum operating efficiency
Ability to inspect engines and APUs to determine and maintain serviceability
Have knowledge of aircraft fuel and mechanical principles applicable to aircraft fuel systems
Possess competent abilities in the use and application of hand tools, power tools, machines work stands, support equipment and special tools/calibrated test equipment
Possess the ability to read and interpret Air Force maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, diagrams, schematics, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damage components
Ability to obtain a secret security clearance, therefore all candidates must be a US Citizen
Desired Skills:
Four (4) years of experience on C-130 aircraft, AE2100D3 engine and R391 Dowty propeller repairs.
Security Clearance Statement:
This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed
These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
