    Mental Health Research Consultant


    Key Role:


    Support federal health research and development (R&D) organizations, including the Advanced Research Projects Agency - Health (ARPA-H), as a Technical Science, Engineering, and Technology Assistance (SETA) Adviser for programs related to mental health.

    Work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment as a scientific or technical advisor to support the client.

    Draw on deep technical knowledge and subject matter expertise to advise clients in multiple areas, including clinical psychology, psychiatry, neuroscience, and psychometrics, with an eye toward applications, such as digital mental health, psychological wellbeing, and predictive analytics and machine learning for personalized medicine and prevention.

    Leverage a breadth of expertise to assess technologies across a broad range of applications to work with world-class scientists to execute advanced government-funded R&D programs to accelerate better health outcomes for everyone.

    Provide strategic assessments of new technologies to support the organization's goals, create technical reports, present findings, track technological progress, analyze technology program plans, and perform other related tasks required by the client.

    Perform direct and periodic technical oversight of the project portfolio, from set-up to close-out, and assist the client with managing projects to achieve clear and compelling outcomes.

    This position is located in Washington, DC.


    Basic Qualifications:

    • 5+ years of experience with research in clinical psychology, psychiatry, neuroscience, or psychometrics
    • Experience with authoring technical papers, reports, or program plans for both technical and non-technical audiences
    • Ability to display multiple first author contributions to peer-reviewed papers or patents
    • Ability to explain and present complex scientific concepts to a broad audience
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
    • Doctorate degree

    Additional Qualifications:

    • 2+ years of experience with postdoctoral academic or industrial research
    • Experience supporting an Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) organization, including DARPA, IARPA, ARPA-E, or ARPA-H
    • Experience with the application of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence towards research in human cognition, behavior, personality, or mental health
    • Experience with scientific writing
    • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Secret clearance
    • Doctorate degree
    in Clinical Psychology, Psychiatry, Neuroscience, Psychometrics or similar field

    Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements.

    The projected compensation range for this position is $60,400.00 to $137, annualized USD).

    The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
