- Work with the marketing, hardware and software engineering, and PLC teams to define system architecture and develop system and sub-system level requirements and specifications.
- Lead resource allocations, schedules, and budgets to achieve product and project work you're doing.
- Lead development and training plans to support the personal and professional growth of team members.
- Lead design teams to develop designs for components, sub-assemblies and systems from concept through release to production.
- Drive prototype integration of assemblies, subsystems, and systems.
- Guide configuration management of Bill of Materials (BOMs) to meet prototype and production requirements.
- Work with supply chain and critical suppliers to support procurement and address technical and schedule questions or issues.
- Drive the development of documentation to enable the transition of new products from engineering to manufacturing.
- Position may require occasional domestic or international travel.
- Education in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineer, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering or relevant education.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a lead, supervisor or project lead role at a manufacturing company.
- Understanding and consistent record in the practice of engineering principles and fundamentals, including design, material selection, fabrication, and integration and testing.
- Successful track record of leading engineering teams and/or product development projects.
- Strong oral and written communication skills including proficiency in technical writing and manufacturing documentation.
- Able to connect with peers, interdisciplinary engineering groups, customers, and suppliers. Able to give effective technical presentations up to the Product Life Cycle (PLC) level. The individual must also be able to effectively connect with a broad range of people and cultures across the US, Europe, and Asia.

The Filmetrics business unit is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Manager to join our team in San Diego to help with the design, development, and release of our benchtop and automated optical profiler, resistivity, and thin-film thickness measurement systems.
