    This job is a full time, benefited, FLSA exempt position in the Health Sciences Division that reports to the Dean of Health Sciences.



    Salary:

    $74,000/yr.

    Minimum Qualifications (Job Code 11413 Category 4)


    Bachelor's degree in a health-related field from a regionally accredited institution and a minimum of 2 years' experience as an instructor in the emergency medical services field.

    Current State of GA Paramedic license or NREMT Paramedic, current GA EMS Instructor Coordinator-Paramedic or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire, current BLS and ACLS Instructor certification.

    Current BLS and ACLS certified.


    Preferred Qualifications:
    In addition to the minimum qualifications, Master's degree in a health-related field from a regionally accredited institution. Minimum of five years teaching experience in a CoAEMSP Accredited Paramedic Program preferred. PHTLS and PALS instructing experience. Proficiency in preparation and delivery of instruction, advisement, and curriculum development. Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively with faculty, staff, and students, in a collegial and multicultural environment. Excellent interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills.

    In addition to the minimum qualifications, demonstrated experience with a variety of teaching strategies including the use of advanced instructional technologies.

    Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and the community. Proficient in written and oral communication. Demonstrated occupational competency. Must be computer literate with the ability to use common software programs. Some experience with online instruction a plus.


    Job Description Summary:


    Under general supervision, serve as program director and perform duties which include curriculum design and development; instruction, recruitment, and advisement of students; budgeting; and management of adjunct faculty.

    Responsible for the ongoing development, implementation and instruction of the Emergency Medical Services program.

    The program director will be responsible for teaching a minimum of 15 contact hours of day or evening instructional courses per semester.

    Duties also include participation in college committees and participation in professional enhancement. Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives. Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares budget requests. Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports. Attends staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences. Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area. Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues. Assists with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts.

    • Performs administrative functions related to program records, program evaluations including assessment of learning outcomes, reports, student records, and student evaluations.
    • Evaluates selects and requests educational materials and equipment.
    • Prepares and evaluates program budgets.
    • Completes all reports and records promptly maintains an accurate inventory of all assigned properties.

    Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited courses. (Performed by all incumbents)


    • Delivers effective individualized programs of instruction to class members.
    • Ensures adherence to technical college and safety requirements in classrooms and labs by following established procedures.
    • Correctly assesses the educational needs and class progress of students.
    • Selects and obtains appropriate educational materials for courses.
    • Prepares reports on the current status of students in the program indicating whether performance is aligned with performance indicators, program goals and progress schedule.
    • Ensures consistency in syllabi, lesson plans, tests, and other appropriate materials.

    • Prepares appropriate curricula, including non-traditional content and methods to achieve the objectives and goals of students.
    • Follows designated and approved lesson plan(s) using appropriate techniques and aids.
    • Participates in standing or ad hoc committee meetings relating to curriculum development, extracurricular activities and other technical college-sponsored activities or programs as required.
    • Prepares program reports for submission to the supervisor within specified time frames of request.
    • Maintains a presence on campus during regular business hours to be available for meetings, department functions, and administrative tasks.

    • Prepare and deliver effective instructional material using a variety of teaching methods.
    • Establish a classroom/lab organization and management system containing policies and procedures.
    • Evaluate and assesses the educational needs and progress of program students.

    • Maintain a presence on campus during regular business hours to perform and monitor instructional services.
