    Description

    This job is a full time, benefited, FLSA exempt position in the Health Sciences Division that reports to the Dean of Health Sciences.

    Salary : 62,000/year.

    Schedule: 40-hours per week, on campus, at the Lawrenceville and Alpharetta-North Fulton Campus campus; Monday through Friday; Equal time will be spent at each campus

    Minimum Qualifications
    An associate degree in paramedicine from a regionally accredited institution.Two years' full-time experience in the field as a paramedic.Certification as a Nationally Registered Paramedic or current State of Georgia paramedic license, current Georgia EMS Instructor Coordinator – AEMT or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.BLS and ACLS instructor certification are required.Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the courses assigned.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    In addition to the minimum qualifications, Bachelor's degree in a health-related field from a regionally accredited institution.Minimum of five years teaching experience in a CoAEMSP Accredited Paramedic Program preferred.PHTLS and PALS instructor certification are preferred. Proficiency in preparation and delivery of instruction, advisement, and curriculum development.Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively with faculty, staff, and students, in a collegial and multicultural environment.Excellent interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills.Must be computer literate with the ability to use common software programs. Experience with online learning modalities preferred.Demonstrated flexibility with diverse student population and learning styles; demonstrated experience with a variety of teaching strategies including the use of advanced instructional technologies.

    Job Description Summary:

    Under general supervision, prepares lesson plans for classroom, lab or clinical instruction for credited Emergency Medical Services: EMT & AEMT courses at Gwinnett Technical College. Implements program curriculum to meet state, national and/or accreditation standards. Develops program and syllabi, goals, and objectives. Teaches face-to-face, hybrid, and online classes as needed to provide course delivery and scheduling options that promote student retention and program completion. Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives. Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares budget requests. Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports. Attends staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences. Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area. Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues. Assists with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts and participates in college and community activities.

    ·Ensure classrooms and work areas are properly cleaned and maintained at all times.

    ·Maintain a secure training and work area that proves freedom of movement for students during the performance of work and training assignments and complies with the security requirements of the organization.

    ·Ensure work-related projects are successfully completed and that they meet industrial standards.

    Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate.

  • Earns required number of CE credits to maintain required industry credentials
  • Participates in education meetings, workshops, etc. as requested.
  • Meet all required organizational and accreditation policies and guidelines.
  • Assist in conducting a self-study of the program's compliance with technical college, program and accreditation standards.

    ·Selects and obtains appropriate educational materials for courses.

    ·Prepares reports on the current status of students in the program indicating whether performance is aligned with performance indicators, program goals, and progress schedule.

    ·Ensures consistency in syllabi, lesson plans, tests, and other appropriate materials.

    ·Prepares appropriate curricula, including non-traditional content and methods to achieve the objectives and goals of students.

    ·Follows designated and approved lesson plan(s) using appropriate techniques and aids.

    ·Participates in standing or ad hoc committee meetings relating to curriculum development, extracurricular activities, and other technical college-sponsored activities or programs as required.

    ·Prepares program reports for submission to the supervisor within specified time frames of request.

    ·Maintains a presence on campus during regular business hours to be available for meetings, department functions, and administrative tasks.

    ·Establishes criteria and tests the students to measure each student's progress.
