    SUMMARY

    The purpose of this position is to provide supervision and support to the Youth Support Specialist I and IIs within the program in order to ensure compliance and adherence to all Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), Licensing, Agency and Joint Commission standards.

    The Unit Manager (UM) role is critical in ensuring that the program achieves its stated goals including the delivery of prescribed services to the client population, proper and timely documentation of said services, ensuring all safety protocols are adhered to and performance improvement activities followed.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

    Follow protocol as it relates to ensuring client safety including the use of de-escalation techniques and adherence to the behavior management / clinical model.

    Must maintain certification in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, unless otherwise specified by the program's Sr. Vice President.

    Ensure that the program is in compliance with all program objectives, policies, procedures, directives and contractual agreements as indicated by supervisors, training personnel and agency policies and procedures.

    Oversee, coordinate and support the direct care staff to ensure proper staff coverage, proper youth care, documentation, maintenance of facility, and DCFS licensing standards.

    Assists in the development of monthly schedules for the Youth Support Specialist I and IIs.

    Maintain overall responsibility for all aspects of care provided to the youth in the program, ensuring all safety protocols are followed through monitoring and supervision of staff and clients.

    Develop, or assist in, the program's staff schedule in order to ensure proper ratio is maintained and staff development opportunities are coordinated.

    Submit to the Operations Manager for approval in a timely fashion.
    Evaluate program performance and participate in short and long-term planning.
    Evaluate, identify and respond to, in a timely manner, the training needs of the program.

    Provide all forms of training, consultation, evaluation, direction and role modeling to staff in order to enhance and develop programming.

    Participate in Clinical Team meetings and Care Coordination Meetings to assist with the development, implementation and review of client treatment/care plans.

    Participate in clinical supervision on a regular basis.
    Ensure completion of all necessary paperwork and documentation, i.e. time sheets, vouchers, shift logs, Incident Reports, Significant Events, Supervision/Safety Plans, etc., and submit according to designated timeframes.
    Conduct and document routine milieu observations to ensure proper implementation of service delivery and clinical model.
    Responsible for the dissemination of petty cash for client related activities and submit appropriate reimbursement documentation (i.e. receipts) in a timely manner to the Sr. Vice President, or designee.
    Ensure compliance of Core Curriculum and on-going training of the Youth Support Specialist I and IIs within the program.
    Ensures compliance with agency personnel file.
    Complete all Core Curriculum training(s) required for this position.

    Fully and professional respond to and implement directives, constructive feedback and advice offered by all supervisory and training personnel, as well as professionally offered feedback from co-workers.

    Perform all other duties as assigned.

    Trauma Informed Care

    WORK HOURS
    Willing to work varying hours based on the need of the program. Hours may include evenings and weekends.

    Participate in the program's on-call coverage rotation to ensure 24-hour response to program staff and adherence to reporting protocol, as necessary.

    Report to work on time and fully prepared to engage in all job responsibilities.

    If qualified, willing to cover job responsibilities of co-workers or subordinates in the event of an emergency or shortage as assigned by Supervisor.


    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
    Directly supervises the Youth Support Specialist I and/or IIs. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
    Bachelor's degree is required; Master's degree preferred.
    Must have two years of experience working with children in an institutional, residential group home, or shelter setting. Two years of previous management and/or supervisory experience is preferred.

    Current driver's license
    Current auto insurance
    Clear driving record
    The ability to critically think, work well under stress and work well in crisis-oriented situations.
    The ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
    Excellent interpersonal, organizational and customer service skills.
