    Description

    New-Indy Ontario, LLC is currently seeking applicants for the position of Process Engineer - Power and Utilities Department at the paper mill located in Ontario, CA. With oversight of the Manager helps to coordinate and assist with environmental compliance to include hazardous waste activities, hazardous materials inventories, storm water pollution, and air monitoring. Assists with meeting safety and production requirements at the Ontario Mill to include project management, specification research, failure analysis and documentation; assists Power and Utilities Manager in maximizing quality, production at the lowest possible cost. This is an exempt position.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    • Complete safety observation cards. Promote safety procedures and standards in the mill
    • Interface with the Power and Utilities, Environmental and Production Managers, Production Shift Supervisors and Operators to develop projects to improve the mill processes towards increased production, improved quality, improved reliability, and reduced costs.
    • Filling in as backup for Power and Utilities as well as Environmental Manager.
    • Develop knowledge in the areas of Power, Steam, Paper Mill, Waste Water Treatment Operations, and Environmental rules and regulations. Able to produce weekly, monthly, quarterly, bi-annually and annually environmental reports.
    • Develop operator interfaces to promote efficient operation, effective standard operation procedures, and improved process monitoring of key operating parameters.
    • Supervise the ABB and paper testing equipment vendors service technicians and manage the service contracts for the paper testing lab.
    • Develop lab test operator interface and manage the collaborative testing protocols.
    • Interface with shipping department to address any quality held rolls issues.
    • Assist in maintenance projects that involve instrumentation and process control.
    • Assist operations in managing shutdown jobs
    • Responsible for supervision of contractors performing work projects assigned to him/her
      • Insures mill policies for materials, safety and environmental are adhered to.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Responsible for management of budget, scope, and timeliness of all projects under his/her supervision.
    • Responsible for cost control and budget management of all project assigned.
    • Assists in the coordination and management of the annual outage. Other duties as assigned
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree is required; paper science and/or chemical mechanical engineer preferred. 2 years minimum experience preferred
    • Ability to read, analyze and interpret scientific or technical materials; ability to effectively present information to top management and all levels of the employee population
    • Strong technical background
    • Knowledge of processes, wet end chemistry, paper testing procedures, and Root Failure Cause analysis (RFCA) related to quality or process failures preferred
