- Provide individualized employment counseling services to targeted/contracted groups.
- Provide labor market information and/or other employment-related subjects and refer customers to supportive services as appropriate.
- Interview and assess customer needs, job skills, education, knowledge, and abilities.
- Assist applicants in registering as appropriate for job search assistance or benefits.
- Use employment counseling techniques to assist customers in deciding on vocational goals and developing employability plans for entrance into employment.
- Conduct comprehensive and specialized assessments to plan to identify employment goals for participants that will lead to sustained careers and self-sufficiency as needed.
- Performs work and records activity and customer information in the current database system.
- Provide instructions and assistance to customers utilizing services, systems, and information available in the Resource Room, along with other related computer data and programs.
- May be assigned other responsibilities on a temporary or ongoing basis as necessary for the delivery of quality service within the Center.
- The incumbent reports directly to the Placement Department Supervisor. The incumbent's primary duty of performing office or non-manual work is directly related to providing job placement assistance to job seekers and assisting employers who have posted job orders.
- Areas of work are assigned, and the incumbent must use independent judgment to determine how to best achieve the established objectives. The supervisor monitors the work performance.
- Incumbent must exercise discretion with respect to matters assigned. Work is performed with specific guidance within broad general guidelines defined in local policies, State and Federal guidelines, communiqués relating to the WIOA Program and other related program requirements.
- High School Diploma with a minimum of three (3) years' experience in a social services / customer service environment. Experience in areas related to interviewing, counseling, job placement, aptitude testing and assessments, or job analysis is preferred.
- Must be: knowledgeable in all Microsoft Office applications and demonstrate proficiency in Word and Excel, possess the ability to utilize state workforce development databases and possess the ability to utilize the Internet to conduct research and obtain data.
