Childbirth Educator and Curriculum Manager
Classification: Exempt
Salary Grade/Level/Family/Range: $50,000 - $65,000 based on experience
Reports to: Director and Chief Executive Officer
Overview:
The Childbirth Educator and Curriculum Manager is an advocate for families, supporting the familys growth and development as they transition through pregnancy into parenthood. In addition, the childbirth educator is an advocate for birthing persons, promoting the health, autonomy, individuality, and integrity for all human beings. The Childbirth Educator and Curriculum Manager will be responsible for leveraging Adult Learning principles and methodologies to design, develop, deliver and facilitate virtual and in-person learning through blended instructional technologies. Additionally, schedule and secure outside expert facilitators for specialized evidence-based classroom topics/presentations.
Required Skills/Abilities:
-Evidence of previous development of professional development materials specific to adult learners
-Experience with coaching and consulting skills
-Knowledge of how to analyze and use student data and adult implementation data
-Valid Drivers license
-Documentation of clear criminal record
-A minimum of two years demonstrated leadership experience coordinating educational programs and the work of others
-Functions as an advocate who supports and protects the natural process of birth
-Supports the rights of the birthing person to make informed decisions based on the knowledge of
benefits, risks, and alternatives
-Encourages parental and family participation in childbirth
-Promotes birthing person, baby, and family-centered maternity care as well as breastfeeding and
parent-infant bonding for all birthing persons and their family members, regardless of risk status
-Supports a maternity care system that is not based on the needs of the caregiver or provider, but solely on the needs of the birthing person, family, and child;
-Analytical ability to identify opportunities for improvement, provide information and available
resources, respond to patient and physician issues/concerns and ensure consistent quality patient care
-Active listening, Communication and/or interpersonal skills to work productively with all levels of
personnel and to oversee the activities of a small group of clients
-Some discretion and conflict resolution skills are necessary
-Courtesy and listening skills are required to communicate effectively with employees, patients and their families
-Facilitation and teaching skills necessary to conduct engaging educational programs for staff, patients, families and community
Duties/Responsibilities
-Develops, updates, coordinates, facilitates and schedules BBCs client education classes in the
accordance with state and national standards
-Plans and participates in the selection, orientation and instruction of client classes and coordinates daily work assignments by facilitating the delivery of services
-Serves as a resource and liaison between the Programming and Training and Development teams and other related areas regarding departmental goals, programs, policies, and procedures
-Plans, implements and evaluates in-service programs for interdisciplinary administration personnel; develops and maintains protocol/guidelines for the education and management of clients and assisting with instruction
-Networks with experts in the field of maternal health to develop a national speakers bureau of experts that are willing to provide topic driven education to our clients and/or staff members
-Overhaul existing educational presentations and create uniformity within all BBC educational
presentations
-Analyze the performance of BBCs client education classes through surveys and/or other methods,
document the educational needs and implement strategies for improvement
-Other duties as assigned by the Director or CEO
Education and Experience:
A masters degree in education, or masters degree in a related area with either reading or literacy
endorsements on state license
Experience in how to improve maternal-client learning through the implementation of high-quality
evidenced-based strategies
Experience as a provider of professional development and technical assistance specific to evidence-
based language and literacy development
Leadership skills to direct others toward objectives that contribute to the success of client engagement
